Yeah,
so I'll continue with today's evnets and happenings.By the way, I am reporing from Manali right now. Today was a rocker of a day! Today me and Dad planned to go the dam construction site. So we had to wake up early too. But as usual i woke up late around 8 o'clock. My mom didn't want to go to the site. She said she had to pack up as we were going to Manali today. So me and Dad got ready first and went to have a breakfast first. We decided to give a break to our tummies, and had only some sandwiches.Soon we were en route to the dam site. The route was really horrible, and so narrow that, we had to reverse around 8 times, to enable a lorry or tipper to pass us in the opposite direction.
However, the hostile road was worth passing through to see the dam site. It was like: wow!! The dam was like built from two sides, from either side of the river( not existing currently, as it was diverted before the dam, to enable the construction of the dam). Guided by the project manager, we first went to an approach tunnel, which was an access to the inlet tunnels of the powerhouse.( i know, all this sounds vague but i'll give a detailed account of what i learnt about the dams tomorrow). After the tunnel, We visited a mini hydel plant of 1 mW. It had one small turbine and a cute little generator. It was really a kind of schematic diagram of a the real thing. After exploring the site, some more and learning some amazing things(which i'll include tomorrow), we headed back to the hotel.
It was around 1230 hrs then, and the by the time we reached the hotel, it was 1320hrs. We had a light lunch again, and set off for Manali. It was a long drive, but the scenery was breath-taking. We reached manali by 1630 hrs and checked into our rooms. This hotel is great too, with great scenes of the ice-covered mountains.
As we were tired after the long journey, we decided not to go anywhere in the evening, and just strolled around the hotel and its gardens. Later, my parents went out for a walk in the town, while I stayed back, and ordered a yummy spring roll too! We just lazed in the evening. I further read The Holy Grail book. It's turning out to be an interesting read. Then we went to dinner in the restaurant. A simple but heavy dinner of chole and mix vegetables curry.
Anyway, i don't think today's was very long or interesting. Hope tomorrow's is good. Anyway, I'll be giving a detailed report of the dams, which is bound to be interesting( at least, if you re aspiring to be an engineer like me) Any way till tomorrow-- Adios!
